General Introduction:
During the last decade, businesses have undergone a structural revolution. Industries have been globalized in terms of sourcing and distribution. Furthermore, the number of products has exploded while their life cycle shortened. Different systems are available to help integrate the different chain partners. We discuss in this workshop a small number of powerful themes that have emerged recently as the central building blocks of world-class operations and supply systems.

We start by discussing operations strategy and how building the "right" capabilities is critical nowadays to make the difference in a competitive environment. We then move to discuss the business process approach to management highlighting manufacturing process selection and design. The second part of the workshop will focus on the concepts of supply chain management starting with designing the supply strategy to managing strategic capacity to lean production and JIT. Through this discussion some inventory management policies will be introduced and analyzed.

The workshop will be based on lectures, theme discussions, case studies examples and videos.

This course is intended to all businesses. It is particularly beneficial to General Managers, business managers, supply chain managers, operations managers, plant mangers, warehouse managers, Consultants in the field of supply chain. The emphasis is on the qualitative managerial insights needed by directors, managers, and business planners. We will demonstrate that companies can and do use the principles of supply chain management to enhance their competitiveness significantly.

Important:
Please note that the implementation of the course is conditioned by a minimum number of participants attending it. In case this number is not achieved ELCIM might be compelled to postpone or even cancel it. The minimal requirement in this case is 10 participants.
