| Launching of ELCIM2 |

Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of
Industry, Pierre Gemayel,
the launching of a second phase of ELCIM took place at IRI
on the 7th of December 2005. This phase was preceded by a
first project in the year 2001, which ended in 2004.
The Euro-Lebanese Center of Industrial Modernization (ELCIM)
is co-financed by the European Union through the ISSP
Program.
ELCIM assures a technical aid for the Lebanese firms, SME
(Small and Medium Enterprises, to ameliorate their
performance until they attain international standards. Some
criteria have been set and should be met in order for an
enterprise to benefit from the services of ELCIM.
This aid will be concretized in the domain of formations and
training sessions on new technologies as well as production.
The Centre will also assist the enterprises in the
innovation and the amelioration of their production.
However, ELCIM does not offer loans to the enterprises, it
facilitates their access to loans through financial
feasibility studies.
