The Director General of the Industrial Research Institute, Dr. Bassam Frenn, met the Danish Ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Jan Top Christiasen at the institute's headquarters in Hadath, Lebanon. Among those attending the meeting were the Head of Trade Council at the Danish Embassy, Mr. Ahmad El Loubani, the Director of the Lebanese Cleaner Production Center at IRI, Dr. Ali Yaacoub, as well as various senior managers at the institute.
The main focus of the visit was to discuss the possibility for cooperation between IRI and similar institutions in Denmark and to strengthen industrial and trade exchanges between the two countries, especially IRI's role in the granting of conformity certificates that are recognized in more than 120 countries.
Given the fact that Denmark is the leading country globally in alternative energies (water, air and sun), Dr. Frenn suggested to benefit from the Danish experiences in such projects by collaborating on similar projects in Lebanon. The Ambassador welcomed the idea for this project, which will be the basis for cooperation through follow-up with concerned officials at the Institute in Denmark.
The Ambassador was then given a tour of IRI laboratories and facilities where he observed the workflow of testing, inspection, and sample preservation. He expressed his admiration for the high level of professionalism a IRI, its qualified staff and its European accredited laboratories.
