Sustainability World Tour

The Lebanese Cleaner Production Centre (LCPC) and green2bee, organized a seminar on “Promoting Sustainable Production and Consumption Practices - Sustainability World Tour”, at the Industrial Research Institute (IRI) premises. Representatives of the industrial sector, NGO’s, universities professors and students, and other parties attented the seminar.

To maintain the economic situation and reduce the consumption of natural resources. green2bee sent its delegates to Lebanon as part of the Sustainability World Tour that includes 25 countries. This tour aimed at several things that concern us directly as industrialist, environmentalists and economists, and we found that there is great potential for cooperation with the academic sector.

The Sustainability World Tour, which includes 25 countries ends in South Africa in conjunction with the Conference of Climate Change COP 17.

While the attention of developed Countries is towards new research in the areas of alternative energy, renewable and cleaner energy without affecting the environment and human societies in a negative way that makes the energy-producing is polluting the atmosphere, land and water resources. In Lebanon, we are waiting from concerned parties, new initiatives and effective process in the areas of cleaner industrial and agricultural production and cleaner environment air, sea, land and water in all its forms.

Praised the efforts of the LCPC in assisting the industrialists in Lebanon to achieve sustainable development, and stressing that the IRI will be always in the service of Lebanese industry.

During the seminar:
green2bee offered an overview of international water management tools and helped to understand the extent of direct and indirect water use (in operations, buildings and throughout the supply chain). Challenges and opportunities are identified. The Global Water footprint Standard (released in 2011) was specifically addressed.

They also discussed and shared knowledge with Lebanese companies that talked about their experiences in environmental management and its applications.

It was agreed with the experts to visit these industrial companies in Lebanon: Hawa dairy and Unipak as well as visit the water treatment plants for sewerage in Tripoli.
