Soil Mechanics & Civil Engineering Laboratory

The soil mechanics and civil engineering laboratory with its fixed and mobile facilities offers services for materials testing, on-site investigation studies and control of structural products.

The test procedures used follow the test requirements stipulated in Lebanese and international standards namely: NL, ASTM, EN etc…

A New generation of non-destructive testing methods are performed, such as Schmidt Hammer related to TICO measurement to control the compression strength of the concrete in piles and slabs, and Profometer-5 to detect by ultrasonic method the size, number, and depth of the steel bars in concrete piles and slabs.

In addition, we recently acquired new technology for testing tiles in a climatic chamber according to European standards for evaluating the frost resistance of ceramic tiles, and others, by testing automatically in frost-unfrost cycles, including holder basket.
